Enervating
Each bond breaking
Separating
Atoms weathered
Matter tethered
Split its fetters
She’s in tatters
Former and latter
To whom it matters
Phases changing
Uncreating
Sublimating
Ions decay
Backing away
“She’ll be OK”
Safe from splatter
Still staring at her
Denial flatters
State transitions
Fiery fission
Blinds her vision
Energetic
Bursts kinetic
Cries frenetic
So she shatters
Enthalpy scatters
Yearning to matter
If seen up close
Smolder of host
Contorted ghost
But in new eyes
What distance hides
A light still writhes
And sees what matters
Matters of Enthalpy
