Unclasp borrowed burden
Release shame’s leaden cloak
Wasn’t yours to carry
Its weight that nearly broke
Your back to curl tightly
Traps hardened taut with dread
Strapping skull to shoulders
Posed stiff to stare ahead
Disrupt dark disorder
Let fall before the dead
Undress under starlight
Cool air to bring release
Prickle each pore alive
Bathe burden with belief
Your back unfurls slowly
Shoulders lower to spine
Til head can turn and see
The whole picture this time
Better broken to be
Than to never have tried
Align body gently
Accept each wish misplaced
All worn on open sleeve
Move on while keeping faith
Forgiving so freely
Others’ mistaken moves
So just as completely
Forgive yourself then too
Deliver discretely
Self-salvation with truth
Steady stand strong and tall
When you’ve rested enough
It was normal to fall
You always get back up
Behold living temple
Your heart now lives aligned
Loving both dark and light
To yourself being kind
Become bold being bright
Mother’s might make me mine
